How to use QR codes in your book

A QR code turns a printed page into a clickable link. Here's where authors put them.

๐Ÿ“–

Back matter

A short review ask at the end of your book, with a QR code below it. Print readers scan it instead of typing a URL โ€” fewer steps, more reviews.

๐Ÿ”–

Bookmarks

A branded bookmark with a QR code is a low-cost insert for paperbacks. Readers keep it โ€” and your review link stays in their hands.

๐Ÿ“ฌ

ARC and promo materials

Add a QR code to your ARC PDF or any printed promo material so advance readers can reach your review page without hunting for the link.

Why QR codes help with reviews

The harder it is for a reader to get to your review page, the less likely they are to leave a review.

โšก

Fewer steps to the review page

A reader who has to type a URL into their browser is less likely to bother. A QR code scan takes two seconds and puts them straight on the review page.

๐ŸŒ

Print readers are everywhere

Paperback readers are more likely to be international readers who might not think to search for your book on Amazon themselves.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Phones are already in hand

Most readers finish a book and immediately reach for their phone. A QR code captures that moment before it passes.

๐Ÿ”—

One code, always up to date

If you use a ReviewLinker smart link as the QR target, the destination can be updated without reprinting the QR code.

Take it further

A plain QR code sends everyone to one store. ReviewLinker sends each reader to theirs.

This tool generates a QR code for any URL. ReviewLinker generates a smart review link โ€” one link that detects where each reader is and redirects them to the right Amazon store. Add that link as your QR target and your back-matter QR code works for readers in every country.

Common questions

Can I use this QR code in the back of my print book?

Yes. Download the SVG version for the cleanest result when submitting to KDP or other printers โ€” SVG scales without losing quality at any print resolution.

What URL should I use?

Any URL works โ€” your Amazon review page, your author website, a landing page, or a ReviewLinker smart link. If you want the QR code to send print readers directly to leave a review, use your ReviewLinker smart link so readers in every country land on the right Amazon store.

What is the difference between PNG and SVG?

PNG is a fixed-resolution image (we generate it at 1024 ร— 1024 px). SVG is a vector file โ€” it scales to any size without becoming blurry. Use PNG for quick digital use; use SVG when submitting files for print.

Can I change the colour of the QR code?

Yes. Choose from the preset colours or pick any custom colour using the colour picker. Keep enough contrast between the QR code and the background โ€” dark QR on white background scans most reliably.

Why does my QR code not scan?

The most common reasons are: the QR code is printed too small (aim for at least 2 cm ร— 2 cm), there is not enough contrast between the QR code and the background, or the URL is broken. Test the QR code with your phone before printing.

Do I need an account to use this tool?

No. The QR code generator is completely free with no account required. If you want a smart QR code that automatically sends readers to the right Amazon store for their country, that requires a ReviewLinker account.
